HILLSBOROUGH
HILLSBOROUGH
This project was an extensive remodel of a 1925 Tudor Revival home on a large beautiful property in Hillsborough. The intent of the design was to modernize the home by enriching and reimagining the existing spaces inside. A goal which was achieved by reconfiguring main spaces, such as the kitchen, studies, bedrooms, and bathrooms, and also revitalizing each space with modern fixtures and rich materials. On the main floor, the full kitchen renovation created a more free-flowing plan, which offers greater connection to the adjacent breakfast area and family room. The two renovated studies incorporated custom cabinetry and shelving, each with unique details and personality catering to the individual client’s needs. Upstairs, each kid’s bedroom was arranged to include an en-suite bathroom, while the Primary suite was enlarged and composed to include generous His & Hers closets leading to a private bathroom, highlighted by a gracious shower clad in full height stone slabs. Outside, elements of the exterior envelope were restored, including the original half-timbering, windows and slate roof, while a fresh paint job revitalized the stucco and timber façade. The half timber was the inspiration for the Shou Sugi Ban siding on the new pool house. The pool house project included new landscaping to update the wonderfully private gardens.
