This transformative renovation took advantage of natural view and light, while working to overcome a choppy floorplan and a series of partial renovations leaving the existing house architecturally and structurally challenged.  Our focus was on emphasizing California inside outside living, natural light and openness for a weekend beach house.  With new cladding, extended overhangs and including landscape features into the palette we were able to transform a difficult façade into an inviting modern home.  Some of the spaces are playfully transformed such as the kitchen which we opened up in plan and to the exterior with a fully operable Fleetwood sliding door to allow the island to function inside and out, emphasizing the exterior connection to the grill.  Another transformation was a partial crawlspace envisioned as a bunk cabinet, creating a unique retreat for their son.
